Dear Friends and Family,
It is with mixed emotions that we write to tell you we are closing a chapter of our lives here in Alaska and will be moving back to CA in a couple months. We would greatly appreciate it if you would take a few minutes to read below regarding our journey.
Just a little more than four years ago, we received and accepted a call to serve as missionaries in Alaska. Eric was in the process of completing his master’s degree in seminary. In order to serve, we needed to step out in faith by raising 100% of our salary and we can give testimony to the amazing ways in which God has and continues to provide for our family. We give thanks to God regularly for the way He has blessed us through your faithful support. Here in Alaska, we have welcomed our third child, Laurel, we have been surrounded by an incredible group of friends, and we have personally experienced a breadth of stories including changed lives through the power of Jesus, the reality of battles with addiction, many joys, heartache, loss, suicide, laughter, tears, and hope…all of which the Lord has used to etch a place in our hearts for the young people of Alaska that will last as long as we live.
Yet, we have come to the conclusion after seeking the Lord and after seeking counsel from close friends and family that now is the time to take another leap of faith to transition back to where we both call “home”. Therefore, Eric has recently resigned from Amundsen Educational Center and his service there will be completed at the end of April. Our time serving with Alaska Christian College and with AEC has included all of the breadth of stories mentioned above. We ask you to join us in continued prayer for these two ministries.
Now, we are a month away from welcoming our fourth child…we can hardly wait! Then, at the end of May we will make the move back to N. California where we will live near Meghan’s family and the community where we met and were married while Eric was serving as a youth pastor. We are grateful for the many friendships we have in the area.
This is clearly another major transition for our family. Although the timing is challenging with just having a baby, our lease situation and the end of another school year have led us to decide to move at this time. Below are some specific ways in which we humbly ask for your prayers and support:
• Please pray for a safe delivery (due 4/25). Meghan is experiencing a “high risk” pregnancy with gestational diabetes and has recently had to begin insulin which will continue until the baby is born.
• Pray for healthy adjustment for our children. Particularly our two boys will miss their friendships and the adventures they have had in AK.
• Eric is looking for a job and we are trusting in God’s provision. Please join us in praying. If you are in the Calaveras County area, we’d appreciate any leads!
• For those of you who have supported us financially during our time in AK, we ask that you consider helping our family through a 3 month transition period either by continuing to give your regular monthly support to us personally beginning in May or by making a one-time gift to us personally. While your gifts will no longer be tax-deductible, we will be sure to send updates on how our transition is going. Checks can be made to Eric or Meghan Johnson and mailed to Meghan’s mother at the address below:
