Eric and Meghan were married on October 20, 2001. We have been blessed with 3 beautiful children: Nate (5), Wesley (3), and Laurel (1).
For our first 5 years of marriage, Eric served as a youth pastor and then spent two years finishing up his schooling. During that time we prayed together for what God might call "us" to, for how He would combine our gifts and experiences to serve Him. Since high school, Meghan sensed a call to cross-cultural ministry and has served as a short-term missionary to Mexico, the Phillipines, and Taiwan. Eric has had a desire for years to make a difference in the lives of young people and has worked as a teacher, youth pastor, and in various administrative roles over the last 14 years.
After Eric completed his Masters Degree at North Park Theological Seminary, we were called to serve as missionaries in Alaska. This past August marked our 3rd year in Alaska serving native Alaskan young people. Eric serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Amundsen Educational Center (AEC), a ministry serving native Alaskan youth through discipleship and vocational training. We are also grateful for the relationship we have with Alaska Christian College, a nearby partner ministry, where Meghan mentors female students and helps with occasional projects. We enjoy investing in relationships, mentoring, hosting regular student dinners in our home, and sharing our life with students and many great colleagues who serve alongside us here in town.
Funny that God would call us to serve at AEC...The visionary and name-sake, Roald Amundsen was a missionary pilot who served throughout Alaska. In 1952, Roald flew Eric’s grandfather, Robert Honnette, around the state. On that trip, Eric’s grandfather produced a video for the Evangelical Covenant Church titled, "Call to the Arctic", which told of the work that the Covenant Church was doing in and throughout the state of Alaska to spread the gospel of Jesus. Now, more than 50 years later, we are humbled and excited to be used to carry out the vision of missionary pioneers amongst the people of this great state!
